SEIKI YUKIMOTO
SOULBLEED
After spending his early adult years on the lower east side of New York City studying and eventually playing trumpet with his roommate the acclaimed trumpeter Don Cherry, Seiki “Yuki” Yukimoto returned to Osaka, Japan with a renewed musical vision. His inspiration led him to form Soulbleed, a group famous for its jam sessions and passionate style. Seiki Yukimoto plays both the trumpet and quena at these usually sold out events.
The recently released double CD “Six Sense Live” is the fourth for Seiki Yukimoto and Soulbleed. Mr Yukimoto was just featured in Jazz Japan and extensively interviewed in Japan’s Jazz Critique magazine where more biographical information can be found.

“With only a sound check, no rehearsal, and a few collaborative notations with Yukimoto, the group jumped right into a deep whirlwind of blistering music. It was an evening of genre cross pollination. They played off each other with an intuitive sense allowing for hard-hittin’ solos with Spaceman bringing the guitar funk, Abreu’s Latin tinge, Burrs’ R&B keyboards with Banks soul á la mode, Haynes bringing it home with lyrical melodic inserts, Baker’s wash board improvisations, and the leader playing bold trumpet riffs and yet something new on his Quena flute bridging the sound of East and West.”
